Ivanka Trump Addresses #GrabYourWallet Boycott Movement: ‘There’s Nothing I Can Do’

How to deal. Ivanka Trump finally addressed how she’s coping with the #GrabYourWallet movement — i.e., the digital campaign that encourages those who don’t agree with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump‘s statements and policies to stop buying his daughter’s namesake collection.

“The beauty of America is people can do what they like, but I’d prefer to talk to the millions — the tens of millions — of American women who are inspired by the brand and the message that I’ve created,” Ivanka, 34, told Good Morning America.

That message, of course, is that Ivanka supports “women who work.” She uses the hashtag #WomenWhoWork in many of her social posts as a way of standing in solidarity with the working woman, and she’s even releasing a book called Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success, which is set for a spring release.

“My advocacy of women, trying to empower them in every aspect of their lives, started long before the presidential campaign did,” Ivanka, who shares three children with husband Jared Kushner, went on. “I’ve never politicized that message. People who are seeking to politicize it because they disagree with the politics of my father — there’s nothing I can do to change that.”

This isn’t the first time the Ivanka Trump Collection has come under fire as of late. Earlier this month, Racked revealed that one of the factories where Ivanka Trump shoes have been made is forcing employees to work in sweatshop conditions. In June, Ivanka and Marc Fisher were sued for selling a shoe that looked nearly identical to Aquazzura’s iconic Wild Thing sandal. And before that, in April, the label had to recall a line of scarves due to their high flammability.
