Rolls-Royce Reveals Its Evil Side With the Murderously Fast, 593-HP Dawn Black Badge

Even a brand that is the epitome of establishment status can appreciate an occasional taste of anti-establishment rebellion, so Rolls-Royce has dressed its posh Dawn convertible in a black leather jacket for an evening on the wrong side of the tracks.

The Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge is coated in multiple layers of paint and lacquer and then hand-polished. Rolls says this is the most exhaustive painting and polishing process ever used for a solid paint color. 

Dawn’s canvas folding roof only comes in black canvas and the rear deck is finished in black leather.

Maybe the coolest detail is the black chrome finish on “The Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament, which is echoed on other brightwork such as front grille surround, trunk lid trim, tailpipe tips and air intake trim.

Somewhere, Rolls got its hands on leather that it says is even better than its regular stuff, so that’s here in black with Mandarin orange highlights meant to evoke the sunset.

The dash-mounted engine power gauge taps still more grunt from the 6.6 liter twin-turbo V12, with an extra 30 horsepower boosting the Dawn Black Badge’s total to 593 horses.
