Daddy-Daughter Duo Go Viral on TikTok After Posting Reaction to the ‘Love Story’ Dance Challenge Trend

It seems like there’s a new trend going viral on TikTok every single day – most of which are dances that users try to mimic in the best way they possibly can. The social media platform is one of the most popular apps today and it’s doing wonders in bringing families, friends, and loved ones together like never before.

On this particular day – November 8th, to be exact – a father posted a TikTok video with his daughter. While she thought she was videotaping her father doing a new dance trend, the camera was actually pointed at her. Not only that, but there was a second camera videotaping the father doing the dance.

The end result was a side-by-side video of the daughter’s reaction as she watched her father do a funny dance – a trend that we’ve seen many couples, parent-child duos, and friends attempt. The dance is funny in itself, especially when a father does it, but the daughter’s reaction is the real winner here.

The trend goes something like this. You hand the camera to a friend (or, in this case, your daughter) and tell them to record you doing a dance – little do they know it’s already recording and the camera is pointed towards them, not the person dancing. With Taylor Swift’s Love Story playing, you do the trendy dance.

“So I did the ‘Love Story’ dance where I got down on one knee and essentially proposed and then danced and jumped around. And then the camera was actually recording her face and her reaction to me dancing without her knowing,” said the father, who explained how it all went down on Good Morning America.

The video was posted on TikTok by Rob D’Urbano (@durbanofamily) – the father who did the dance. For an account that usually receives thousands of views on each post, this video garnered more than 19.3 million views, 2.1 million likes, and nearly 40,000 comments in just a few weeks since posting it on TikTok.

“As soon as I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh, she would be so perfect doing something like this,’ because she loves to record me, take pictures of me on her phone just for fun. And plus, every time I dance for her, she gets a kick out of it and laughs at me,” D’Urbano said, explaining how the trendy video challenge came about.

The Moment Was Too Adorable Not to Post on TikTok

Now that the video has gone viral and it has been viewed by millions – upon millions – of users, it’s safe to say the family is shocked at how much attention it has garnered, especially considering it’s a trend that everyone seems to be doing these days. Rob D’Urbano added he never thought it would get this big.

“The hard part was going to be [trying] to fool her into the camera facing her because I knew she would catch on to that. But as soon as I gave it to her, she was like, ‘Why is it facing this way?’ And I said, ‘Well, I have to just record it this direction. It’s still recording.’ So she couldn’t see the screen, so she fell for it pretty good,” he said on GMA.

The daughter’s gigantic smile and uncontrollable laughter as her father danced to Taylor Swift in front of her was a reaction most children can relate to when they see their parents making a fool of themselves. At the same time, you have to admit he nailed the dance and almost looked like a pro while he did it!

“I was not expecting that look. I mean, I’ve always seen her laugh at me and smile at me when I do silly things. But that was a little different. I don’t know what it was,” D’Urbano continued. Ever since the video went viral, the daddy-daughter duo have continued to make funny and adorable videos for their followers.
