Red, White & Booze Popsicles

Red White & Booze popsicles

Cocktail Crafty

As a kid, one of your favorite things about summer was likely the popsicles, special treats as delicious as they are cooling. And the superior kind of popsicle is the three-flavor Firecracker, each layer of the red, white and blue ice pop featuring its own flavor.

For adults, ice pops are still a delicious treat. And even better, now they can be boozy. These layered popsicles from Cocktail Crafty are perfect for your all-American celebrations. The three flavored layers mean they’re more time-consuming to make than most liquor-spiked pops, but the end result is delicious and totally Pinterest-worthy.

A word of warning: Don’t be tempted to add more liquor than the recipe calls for, or you will end up with boozy slush.

  • 1/4 ounce vodka

  • 4 ounces orange-pineapple juice

  • 2 ounces simple syrup

  • 1-3 drops blue food coloring (optional)

Steps

Makes 4 popsicles

  1. Make the Cherry Bomb mixture by adding the cherry vodka, black cherry juice, lemon juice and simple syrup into a container. Stir to combine.

  2. Add 1 1/2 ounces of Cherry Bomb mixture into each popsicle mold, then freeze for 2 hours.

  3. Make the Piña Colada mixture by adding the coconut and pineapple rums, coconut water and simple syrup into a container. Stir to combine.

  4. Remove the molds from the freezer and add 1 1/2 ounces of Piña Colada mixture to each mold, then freeze for another 2 hours.

  5. Make the Blue Hawaii mixture by adding the blue curacao, vodka, orange-pineapple juice and simple syrup, plus the food coloring, if desired, into a container. Stir to combine.

  6. Remove the molds from the freezer and add 1 1/2 ounces of Blue Hawaii mixture to each popsicle mold, then freeze for an additional 2 hours.

  7. Immediately before serving, run the exteriors of the molds under warm water for a few seconds to make it easier to remove the popsicles.
