People Are Accusing Amber Heard Of Using Movie Quotes In Her Testimony

This case is so divisive, take this reporting with a grain of salt.

People are firmly in camp Heard or camp Depp and each seems hellbent on making the other appear as truly vile as possible.

First, it was Heard’s outfits, now people are wondering if she’s just using movie quotes during her testimony in the ongoing defamation trial.

Heard first made allegations of abuse in 2016 when she filed for divorce and accused Depp of abusing her during the marriage.

The pair eventually agreed to an expensive settlement with clauses meant to protect both Heard and Depp after the breakup, Heard continued to speak.

While Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed did not call out Depp by name, the actor is suing her for libel over the piece. In the op-ed, Heard alleged that Depp verbally and physically abused her during the relationship.

Depp is seeking $50 million in damages.

She began her testimony on May 4th and told stories of numerous graphic, traumatic parts of her relationship.

However, people have been shredding her testimony.

Psychologist Cooper Lawrence said that her testimony “comes across as a little bit false,” and that she “sounded rehearsed” when Lawrence spoke to Channel 7’s Sunrise.

Now viewers believe that her testimony was just full of movie quotes.

After watching the trial and doing some digging, Twitter user @christinapykles shared a thread of what she thinks may be Heard’s collection of movie lines.

A user named Micel Ko said that he thought her “drink lots of tea” line came from Notting Hill.

Another Twitter user pointed out that “He’d rather cut off his own hand” came from Mildred Pierce.

Another person alleges that her opening statement was just the plot of The Talented Mr. Ripley.

This particular moment has been debunked, as we outline below.

“The thing with [Johnny] … it’s like the sun shines on you, and it’s glorious. And then he forgets you, and it’s very, very cold … When you have his attention, you feel like you’re the only person in the world; that’s why everyone loves him so much.”

Here’s the quote from the 1999 film:

“The thing with Dickie … it’s like the sun shines on you, and it’s glorious. And then he forgets you, and it’s very, very cold … When you have his attention, you feel like you’re the only person in the world; that’s why everybody loves him so much.”

Mildred Pierce

However, Newsweek confirmed that she did not say the lines from the film. Some pieces of her testimony may have similar language, but she did not lift anything word for word.

Here’s what she really said:

“When I was around Johnny I felt like the most beautiful person in the world—then he would disappear.”

So yea, maybe not so much, but nice try, internet.
