Only Kate Middleton can know the Kate Middleton experience, but we're guessing it involves lots of hand-shaking, waving, and bringing attention to important causes—along with a fair amount of people telling her she's beautiful. But, in an honest move that's pretty surprising for a duchess, the 35-year-old admitted her flawless facade takes work.

During Kate and Will's recent visit to Warsaw, Poland, a group of students told the Duchess of Cambridge she was beautiful and perfect, as the Mirror reports. Instead of modestly uttering a demure "thank you," Kate got real and told the kids, "It's just the makeup."

In a world that tells women more often than not that they should be gorgeous—but shouldn't show any of the work that goes into it—we're so here for Kate drawing attention to the fact that, nope, she doesn't wake up like this and that it takes effort to look the way she does. She's a mother of two—those blow-outs don't just happen.

So, yeah—it was a tiny comment, but it makes a big difference, especially given the fact that women of all ages look up to her.

Kate joins a slow-growing list of companies and celebrities that are working to pull the curtain back on the perception of perfection: The U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority is cracking down on the phenomenon by policing unrealistically Photoshopped ads, Dove's Real Beauty "Evolution" video showcases a model’s appearance from her natural state to a finished image for use in advertising, and both Heidi Klum and Elizabeth Banks have been vocal about the intense transformation that happens pre-red carpet.
