The Volkswagen CC is officially done and is being replaced by the 2019 VW Arteon. We’ve already seen the European-spec Arteon, but VW just unveiled the US-spec version of its new flagship sedan at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show.

Based on the MQB platform, the 2019 Arteon continues the four-door coupe look from the CC, but now features a sleek liftback design, like the Kia Stinger. Compared to the CC, Arteon features a more cab-backward design. Arteon’s wheelbase is more than 5 inches longer than the CC and also features shorter overhangs.

“The Arteon is Volkswagen’s brand shaper,” said Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO of the North American Region, Volkswagen. “This car is the spiritual successor to the CC, but it is bolder and faster. Arteon has the style and performance of a luxury Gran Turismo for about the price of a fully loaded midsize sedan.”

Inside the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit is available, in addition to the Volkswagen Car-Net connected vehicle services, Dynaudio premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, and a power trunk. The 2019 Arteon comes standard with keyless access and push-button start, 3-zone Climatronic automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The 2019 VW Arteon is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. 4Motion all-wheel drive is optional.

The 2019 Arteon will be available in SE, SEL, and SEL Premium trim levels and when it arrives in the third quarter of 2018.
