2019 Super Bowl Betting Guide: Odds, Picks, Props and Expert Predictions

Rams or Pats?

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will battle for their sixth NFL championship against Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz stadium.

Except maybe for the seemingly clairvoyant NFL analyst Tony Romo, no one knows for sure which team will walk away from Super Bowl LIII with the coveted Lombardi Trophy.

According to ESPN, the spread currently favors the Pats by 2.5 points, which is at least partially due to the fact that this is Brady’s ninth Super Bowl appearance in 18 seasons, and you can never count out Touchdown Tom, Gronk and the rest of the Pats, given their record of winning.

But besides the outcome of the Big Game itself, there are the proposition bets. The over/under is set at a whopping 56.5—tied for the second-highest total in Super Bowl history.

CBS Sports is backing the opinion of SportsLine’s R.J. White, a professional handicapper who has correctly selected 62 percent of his spread and netted his $100 bettors almost $2,000 this season. White is leaning towards the over.

Many other side bets are totally ridiculous, but longtime sportswriter Matt Bonesteel complied a list of action from Westgate SuperBook that’s worth paying attention to.

Check out a few of the most interesting prop bets from Bonesteel’s Washington Post article below:

Will the Patriots score a touchdown in the first quarter?
Yes -110
No -110

It’s one of the more remarkable stats to come out of the Bill Belichick/Tom Brady dynasty: In eight previous Super Bowl appearances with those two, New England has not scored a touchdown in the first quarter.

First-quarter points scored by the Patriots
Over 6.5 -110
Under 6.5 -110

Continuing along those lines, New England has scored a grand total of three first-quarter points in its eight previous Super Bowls with Belichick and Brady, getting shut out in every game save for last year against the Eagles, when it was able to kick a field goal.

Total rushing yards for the Rams
Over 127.5 -110
Under 127.5 -110

The Rams have gone over 127.5 rushing yards in 11 of 18 games this season, though the Patriots allowed more than 127.5 rushing yards in just six games.

Total fumbles lost by both teams
Over 1.5 +110
Under 1.5 -200

This one comes from Byeweekpicks on Twitter: The Patriots fumbled in just six of 18 games this season, the fewest in the league. (That’s total fumbles, not fumbles lost.) New England has ranked no worse than fifth in total fumbles in eight of the past 10 seasons. The Rams tied for seventh in the league with just 1.1 total fumbles per game. In terms of fumbles lost per game, New England and Los Angeles both averaged 0.4 (tied for fourth).

And even if football isn’t your thing, you can still bet on way goofier props like whether Kylie Jenner will appear on-camera during the broadcast (yes is +155, no is -200) or if the winning team will accept an invite to the White House (yes is -950, no is +551).

Good luck!
