Warning: Spoilers ahead! Don't read any further unless you're fully caught up on Jane the Virgin.

Jane the Virgin fans received a devastating blow during Monday night's episode: Michael (Brett Dier), Jane's (Gina Rodriguez) husband, died from shooting-related complications while taking his LSATs. (If you forget, Michael's crooked police partner shot him last season, so the wound must have caused a blood clot or an infection that he didn't realize.) Absolutely no one saw this coming—especially because Jane and Michael had just bought a house together and recently had sex. They were well on their way to marital bliss!

No one is more crushed by this news than Rodriguez herself. The actress took to Instagram to express her feels over this shocking twist, and her post will make you cry even harder than you did last night, which was a lot.

"You [Dier] are my partner in artistic crime," Rodriguez said in the caption of the photo, which shows her and Dier in a tender embrace. (Ugh, my emotions!) "We did two plus seasons together, and I will never have the words to express how you changed my life. Thank you @brettdier #teamMichaelForever #janethevirgin #DreamComeTrueActingPartner."

This plot twist throws a major wrench in Jane the Virgin. Will Jane still live in her and Michael's house? How will this affect her career? (If you remember from last night, Jane was worried about a job interview with an editor.) How will this impact Jane's relationship with Rafael (Justin Baldoni)?

And if you hope this Michael death is a fake-out, I have some more bad news: Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Michael is really dead. Nooo!

I recommend watching the rest of Jane the Virgin with tissues by your side. At this rate, who knows what else is in store?

Jane the Virgin airs Mondays at 9:00 P.M. ET on the CW.
