Kourtney Kardashian Still Has Her Son’s Long Braid in Her Bedside Drawer: “I Smell It Often”

Kourtney Kardashian and her sister, Khloe Kardsashian, recently interviewed each other on a flurry of hot topics in partnership with Interview Magazine. They talked about their favorite bedtime snacks, sleep habits, and more – but things got a little wild when Khloe asked Kourtney if she had a secret drawer. 

Kourtney’s original response was that she has ‘many,’ which prompted Khloe to back off the question – saying she doesn’t think she needs to know, based off what Kourtney keeps on top of her nightstand. And while she refused to tell her everything that’s in her secret drawer, Kourtney enlightened us on one thing. 

“I have Reign’s hair, because we didn’t cut his hair until he was five. So I have his long braid and I smell it often,” said Kourtney. It’s an answer that left Khloe a little speechless and while her sister offered to show her when she comes over later, Khloe wasn’t too thrilled – “Oh no, I’m fine with that,” said Khloe jokingly.

Kourtney Kardashian has long received unwarranted criticism and backlash for allowing her son, Reign, to experiment with his hairstyle. For the first five years of his life, Reign didn’t want to cut his hair. Instead, he opted to grow it out and wear it in various different styles – including braids, plaits, and ponytails. 

Unfortunately, many social media users gave Kourtney a hard time for giving her son the freedom to do what he wants with his hair – with some comments questioning the little boy’s gender due to his long hair. Like any mother would, Kourtney was quick to come to her baby’s defense – calling his hair ‘beautiful.’ 

After five years of growing it out, Reign had a change of heart and wanted to try something new. As a result, the five-year-old shaved his head and started with a fresh canvas. It took some time for Kourtney to accept it, but we now know how she copes with it – referring to the long braid in her ‘secret drawer.’ 

Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to Reign on December 14, 2014 with on-again, off-again ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick. They were together between 2006 and 2015 before splitting for good. After a four-year relationship with Younes Bendjima, Kourtney has been married to Travis Barker since April 3, 2022.

The Long Hair is Gone, But Kourtney Kardashian Still Receives Criticism

Reign finally cut his hair in 2020, but that hasn’t stopped him from experimenting with his hairstyle – he just doesn’t have as much hair to work with now. And while the 7-year-old boy is as happy as can be, many on social media continue to question his haircut choices – with criticism pointed towards Kourtney.

For example, Kourtney shared an Instagram photo of her son sporting a mohawk – the sides of his head were completely shaved and the mohawk stood a few inches tall. He looked ready to rock and roll, but some Instagram users couldn’t let the little boy have his fun – some even calling his hair ‘ridiculous.’ 

In fact, several users questioned the boy’s happiness, pointing out that he appears sad in the photo, and others blamed Kourtney’s new husband, Travis Barker, for influencing the haircut. While there were a lot of nasty and unwarranted comments, there was also a lot of support over his desire to experiment.

At the end of the day, Kourtney Kardashian understands her boy is seven years old and will always allow him to express himself as he sees fit. If he wants to cut his hair into a mohawk, then she’s okay with that. If he wants to grow it out again for five years, well – she would probably fall in love with it all over again.
