In September, 37-year-old country singer Jana Kramer was spotted with retired NFL quarterback Jay Cutler at a rooftop bar opening in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon inspection, it seemed as if the two has created a romance, bonding over the aftermath of divorce.
However, after only a month of dating, the pair have decided to call it quits.
“They went on a few dates but in the end, Jana is still single. They realized they’re better off as friends than dating,” an anonymous source explained to PEOPLE.
The source recalled the story of the Kramer-Cutler romance, offering that they seemed to have bonded over both going through divorces. One date led to another and eventually, they went public and were posed together where plenty of photographs were taken of the two. However, when the country singer was asked about her relationship with the former football player, all she had to say was, “Right now I just want to enjoy and keep things close to me.”
Kramer also acknowledged that as time moves forward, she will not be making her relationship public. Explaining the importance of privacy, the country singer revealed, “You know, I have been very open in all my relationships, especially with my last relationship. For me, I just feel like I need to be very careful talking about the next relationships because I know how they get picked apart.”

Was the Kramer-Cutler relationship a sham?
It is no secret to the public that the two people involved in this pairing have gone through relationship hardships over the last few years. Kramer separated from Mike Caussin in April after rumors of cheating arose and Jay Cutler divorced his wife of 10 years in 2020. Shockingly, the anonymous source reported that Cutler was going out with the singer to make his ex-wife Kristin Cavallari jealous.
Cavallari has gone public with her relationship with Chase Rice, which has created speculation that Cutler’s relationship endeavors are only to get a rise out of his former partner. The source commented, “Jay was trying to make Kristin jealous by going on this public date with Jana. He’s not happy she’s dating Chase and has been trying to get Kristin back.”
However, Cavallari herself has disregarded this and insisted Cutler trying to make her jealous was improbable. Apparently, an insider reported that the ex-wife of Cutler shared that there is, “no point in Jay trying to make Kristin jealous as she has moved on and so has he.”
