UFC reportedly discussing potential second fight for former WWE Champion CM Punk

Will CM Punk make his return to the Octagon?

UFC is reportedly working on a potential second fight for former WWE Champion Phil "CM Punk" Brooks, according to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.

Multiple sources indicated that the company is in the early stages of planning a fight for Punk against Mike Jackson for the UFC 225 pay-per-view in Chicago, the former WWE superstar's hometown, in June.

For what it's worth, Punk acknowledged the event's official announcement on Twitter last week.

Punk (0-1) lost to Mickey Gall via first-round submission during his only career MMA fight at UFC 203. Afterward, UFC president Dana White kept the door open for the former pro wrestler to attempt a second shot at UFC.

Punk has since continued to train at Roufusport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in preparation for a potential bout.

Jackson (0-1) who also lost his only UFC fight to Gall via first-round submission in February 2016, has expressed his interest in facing the Chicago native through social media.

UFC 225 will take place at the United Center in Chicago on June 9. There has yet to be a confirmed main event for the card as of Feb. 7.
