Fuel-Cell For Charging Phone Batteries On The Go

With the ever increasing functions that can be performed on a smartphone, we’re constantly using these handy devices for things such as checking emails, sending texts, browsing the web, getting directions, and most importantly making phone calls.  All of these things take a major toll on battery life and most of us don’t always carry our chargers with us and sometimes it’s a pain to find an electric outlet.

There is a solution for our recharging problems; it’s a fuel-cell that can recharge phones and other electronic gadgets using a USB connection.  The fuel-cell provides enough energy to recharge an iPhone’s battery 14 times, of course the number of times you can recharge your battery will depend on the type of device you’re recharging.

The portable fuel-cell for charging smartphones and other devices is produced by Lilliputan Systems and is about the same size as an average smartphone but much thicker.  The recharger makes use of recyclable cartridges which are the size of a lighter and the cartridges are filled with lighter-fluid (butane) to magically create electricity to charge your gadgets.  No word on pricing yet but the fuel-cells will be available at Brookstone stores and online later this year.

  1. I was reading in the comments somewhere that this’ll get really hot with use. If that’s true (and I know nothing about chemistry..it’s chemistry, right??) I wonder how that’s gonna affect portability and ease of use.

Although, it def. looks cool and would come in handy in certain situations..

    • It’s either chemistry or magic. I’ll see if I can get one of these to review, we’ll find out if it gets hot.
