2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition 4×4 Offers Upgraded Suspension and Storage

Toyota has announced a new trim level for its Tacoma mid-size pickup that will slot into the line beneath the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro. The new variant is called the Tacoma Trail Edition 4×4, and it offers additional storage, bed power, and upgraded suspension.

Toyota fits the truck with a 1.1-inch taller front suspension courtesy of longer coil springs. The Trail Edition also gets a 0.5-inch suspension lift in the rear. The suspension tweaks improve the approach angle to 34 degrees, the departure angle to 23.6 degrees, and the breakover angle to 26.4 degrees.

The Tacoma Trail Edition 4×4 is based on the SR5 4×4 and is only offered in a four-wheel-drive configuration with the Double Cab. The truck is offered in Lunar Rock, Army Green, Midnight Black Metallic, and Super White. All get a grill with bronze lettering and unique bronze wheels fitted with all-terrain tires from Goodyear. The wheels and tires make the Tacoma Trail Edition 4×4 0.5-inches wider in track.

The truck also has lockable bed storage to secure your items when on the trails, and the driver-side storage compartment is insulated and can be used as a cooler. Toyota also equipped the bed of the truck with a 120-volt power outlet. Power comes from a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine making 278 horsepower and 265 pound-foot of torque. The Tacoma Tow Package is also standard. Pricing is unannounced at this time.
