Big Band Theory actress and neuroscientist, Mayim Bialik, wants the people who have enjoyed her stint as Jeopardy guest host to credit her son, Miles, for the idea.
Mayim Bialik is stepping in to help the program after the passing of Alex Trebek.
The longtime host of Jeopardy, Alex Trebek, passed on November 8th, 2020 after having hosted the show for 37 seasons. His death shook the game show community and left Jeopardy without a beloved host in the middle of season 37.
That’s where Mayim Bialik and many others stepped in. Since the beginning of the year, Jeopardy has had a slew of guest hosts, including the likes of journalists Anderson Cooper and Bill Whitaker, previous Jeopardy champions Ken Jennings and Buzzy Cohen, and LeVar Burton, former host of Reading Rainbow. However, the show is still looking for a permanent replacement for Alex.
Bialik opened up to the Associated Press about what her stint as a host was like. In an email to the paper, Mayim Bialik explained what hosting Jeopardy was like. “There is very little room for not being 100% dialed into the job of hosting when you are on that stage,” and yet, hosting was one of the most “joyful, challenging, transcendent act I have undertaken — second only to giving birth to my second son on the floor of my living room.”

Bialik thanks her son for the great idea.
While on air this week, she gave credit where credit was due. “As I start my second week of guest-hosting ‘Jeopardy!,’ I want to thank my 15-year-old, Miles. He was the one who first suggested I give this a try and I hope I am making him and his little brother, Frederick, proud.”
She also made sure to acknowledge him in an interview with the Jeopardy Youtube channel. “My older son is the one who originally said ‘Did you know they’re looking for ‘Jeopardy!’ hosts? I saw on the internet that maybe you should find out. So, he was really, really proud.”
