Hear Laverne Cox’s Sexy Take On ‘Sweet Transvestite’ From 'Rocky Horror'

SO. MUCH. SASS.

Fox’s upcoming Rocky Horror Picture Show reboot is now a mere week away, and if you’re not shivering with anticipation just yet, Laverne Cox’s new number may change your mind.

The Orange Is the New Black actress stars as the sex-obsessed Dr. Frank-N-Furter, and lends her voice to Frank’s flamboyant introductory theme, “Sweet Transvestite.” Cox’s horn-heavy version sounds much more contemporary than Tim Curry’s original, but she packs in the required sass and sexiness to pull it off.

Speaking to Vanity Fair about the song, Cox said, “We were able to explore those lower tones in my voice, which I’ve been afraid of doing for years because I’m a woman and I have a low voice. Being trans, it took me a long time to really embrace that part of my voice, but with this character, it was absolutely perfect.”

Fox’s Rocky Horror Picture Show premieres on October 20 at 8 p.m. and also stars Victoria Justice, Ryan McCartan, Adam Lambert, and Christina Milian. Curry also makes a special cameo, so it’s safe to assume he’s on board with Cox’s version of Frank. Whew!
