Riverdale actor Lili Reinhart has expressed her regrets over posting a topless photo on Instagram that called for justice for Breonna Taylor.
On Tuesday, Lili Reinhart took to Twitter to address the photo of herself she reportedly shared to bring awareness to the death of Breonna Taylor, who was shot and killed in her Louisville apartment by police officers serving a no-knock warrant back in March.
The actor uploaded the topless photo in late June, which was accompanied by the caption: “Now that my sideboob has gotten your attention, Breonna Taylor’s murderers have not been arrested. Demand justice.” The pic has since been deleted.
Social media called out Reinhart’s lack of good judgment in posting a topless photo to call for justice.

Reinhart wrote an apology on Twitter, saying, “I’ve always tried to use my platform for good. And speak up about things that are important to me. I also can admit when I make a mistake and I made a mistake with my caption. It was never my intent to insult anyone and I’m truly sorry to those that were offended.”

“I’ve tried very hard to be honest on my IGTV lives that I’m still learning and trying to be better. But I understand that my caption came off as tone deaf. I truly had good intentions and did not think it through that it could come off as insensitive.”
Her apology seems to have been accepted, as folks on Twitter are debating whether or not click-bait actually serves a purpose in raising awareness about political and social issues.

Reinhart became a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Movement since the killing of George Floyd. She has encouraged her followers to educate themselves about racism as well as donate to causes. She has also given the voices of Black activists and creators a platform through Instagram Live interviews.
“I want to say that I am ashamed of the racism that exists in this country,” Reinhart wrote on June 1. “We are taught to look at our police officers as helpful and friendly when we learn about ‘leaders in elementary school. Our ‘leaders’ have failed us today.”
