Report: No NFL Offers for Kaepernick After Workout

Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick's workout for NFL team representatives did not go smoothly—and insiders say it didn't bring him any closer to returning to the league. A source tells NBC Sports that the 32-year-old has not been contacted by any team with an offer of a contract or an invitation for a private workout. The venue was changed at the last minute from an Atlanta Falcons facility to a high school 60 miles away after Kaepernick was asked to sign what his agents called "an unusual liability waiver" and refused to open the event up to the media. Former San Francisco 49ers teammate Eric Reid tells the Washington Post that Kaepernick still accomplished his goal. "Colin proved he can play this game," Reid says. "He proved he can throw the ball."

Another Kaepernick ally, Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills, says he feared the NFL would turn the event into a "media circus" and it sounds as if the waiver was "the league trying to cover their tail, as usual." "I think he did what he had to do to get the workout off, and it looked like he had a good workout," Stills tells USA Today. "He's prepared and ready to go, like he said. So I look forward to a team signing him." Jason Owens at Yahoo Sports suggests that after "disastrous" performances Sunday from quarterbacks Jameis Winston of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kyle Allen of the Carolina Panthers, both teams should take a serious look at Kaepernick, who hasn't played since the 2016 season.
