Jemele Hill Remains Steadfast In Telling Hard Truths

It looks like sticking to her guns, having integrity and not falling victim to the  pressures of social medias right wing antagonists have served Jemele Hill well. America flexed its ugly side this week after Hills tweets labelled Donald Trump as a bigot and white supremacist with no genuine concern for the underserved or minority groups.

She was bombarded with vile and disgusting racially-degrading messages

The White House felt her Twitter comments dangerous enough to the state of the Presidency to suggest that she be fired. ESPN, known to run for cover and fire talent that makes controversial statements, stuck by Hill and accepted a tempered apology.

Hill made it clear that she was not apologizing for her tweets about Trump, but for the position she put her employers in with her tweets. That makes sense.

ESPN accepted her apology and they kept it moving saying, Jemele has a right to her personal opinions, but not to publicly share them on a platform that implies that she was in any way speaking on behalf of ESPN. She has acknowledged that her tweets crossed that line and has apologized for doing so. We accept her apology.

ESPN’s actions have infuriated FOX news and its right wing verbal jabbers. They aren’t used to the little guy winning a battle of the souls.

Tomi Lahren calls out ESPN’s Jemele Hill, “You’d Better Watch Out”

Tomi Lahren calls out ESPN and gives them a chilling warning about losing their audience over Jemele Hill’s inappropriate comments.

This brief controversy will pass shortly and by the time Trump leaves office it wont be a bad memory, but a shining example of how Hill stuck to her guns and her beliefs and risked her employment to express some hard truths about our country and the leadership it is getting in this volatile climate.

Some people needed the strength that her comments provided. Others were detested by the Black woman whose celebrity can’t pacify her desire for a better world.

Despite all of Hills social media detractors, the support she received from not only people of color, but people of all races with common sense, and the fact that shes magnificent at her job as a legitimate sports junkie and not just the ubiquitous television eye candy, ensured that she would continue bringing her insight, comedy, wit, beauty and boldness to the national cable sports scene.

Firing her would have been a disastrous move for ESPN as the station fights to revive its ratings and recapture some of its fans base lost to a variety of causes, including what some say is increased political banter and oversaturation.

She can hold her head up as one of the few ESPN employees to get in some hot water, enter the gauntlet and come out unscathed. In fact, shes more respected, hated and popular than ever, with an even larger platform to continue shooting it straight and being unapologetic for it.
