Woman Uses Tinder To Get Help After Getting Stuck In Arctic Wilderness

Talk about a successful booty call. Some people use Tinder to find love, some use it to find sex, and some use it to find someone to rescue them from freezing to death in the Nordic wilderness.

Wait, what?

This incredibly practical and inventive use of Tinder occurred recently in Norway where a lost traveler swiped her way out of trouble in the nick of time.

According to the New York Post, Lonia Haeger—a German traveler and self-described “adventurer”—found herself in a dangerous situation recently when she and two friends became stranded by freezing rain in the north of Norway, with their van getting caught on the side of a mountain.

After learning that the nearest available towing service was some 200 kilometers away from their location in the Arctic circle, Haeger and her friends came up with a novel approach to emergency response, as she wrote on Instagram:

“While sitting in our camper with the fear that every second the car could slide down the mountain or a car could crash into our camper due to the slippery road, Phil had the weird but actually genius idea to create a tinder account…”

The profile, which featured a photo of Haeger playing with a cute dog, was an instant hit in the frigid north and Haeger got a match within five minutes.

Even better? Her match had a bulldozer and quickly came to the rescue, digging the friends out so they could drive to safety.

Not only was Haeger’s match equipped with the heavy machinery to clear away the ice and snow blocking her vehicle, after the van was moved he also outfitted the tires with spikes to help them on their journey.

No word yet on whether they got hot cocoa after the rescue but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
