Boring Company Xbox

The Boring Company is hard at work digging a trench at SpaceX’s Hawthorne, CA headquarters, and a company representative showed off one new way to operate its massive boring machines: an Xbox controller. Work has also begun underneath Highway 405 in Los Angeles, while approval has been given to start digging in Washington DC and Chicago. Continue reading for another video and more information.

“This isn’t the first time a gaming controller has been repurposed for non-game activities: the USS Colorado went into service earlier this year with a Xbox 360 controller onboard to control its photonic masts. In his book Wired for War: The Robotics Revolution and Conflict in the 21st Century, P.W. Singer notes that ‘by using video game controllers, the military can piggyback on the billions of dollars that game companies have already spent designing controllers and training up an entire generation in their use’ for battlefield robots,” according to The Verge.
