Actor Bill Paxton Passes Away At 61

On the day of the Oscars, we were hit with sad news as we learned of the passing of veteran actor Bill Paxton, who passed away at the age of 61.

Most recognized for his role as Chet in the classic 80s movie “Weird Science”, Paxton started his career in entertainment in 1975. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18 to begin his career.

Pop culture fans recognize him for his classic roles as the aforementioned Chet, Private Hudson “Game over man!” from “Aliens”, Dane from “Navy Seals”, Morgan Earp from “Tombstone” and con man Simon from “True Lies.” But Paxton also did voice overs for movies and video games and directed movies such as the Shia LeBeuf lead “The Greatest Game Ever Played” about golf legend Francis Ouimet.

He had just started as Detective Frank Rouke in the new CBS show “Training Day”, adapted from the movie Denzel Washington won an Oscar for.

It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery, a family representative said in a statement.
