It is a truth universally acknowledged that, for every generation, there must be a Little Women adaptation. This is Saoirse’s:

Truly, they could re-make Little Women one million times as far as I am concerned, like Romeo and Juliet. It is one of my very favorite books in the entire world and, to me, there is no definitive adaptation, though I am VERY very fond of the Winona Ryder version — Kirsten Dunst is the perfect Amy March, and Christian Bale has the floppy Laurie hair of my dreams. Am I moderately concerned that Emma Watson (of whom I am fond) is going to be out-acted here? Yes. Am I very concerned that Emma Watson’s accent is going to go all over the place? I am. (Although, in fairness, her Bling Ring accent is pretty good.) Am I a little sad that Emma Stone is no longer in this? Yes. Do I think Saoirse is trustworthy as far as this role goes? VERY.  It looks quite good and very appropriate as a Christmas movie. (I always sort of think of Little Women as a Christmas Book, I guess because it opens at Christmas.) I have six months to brush up all my Little Women rants, of which I have many!
