Here’s an Upgraded Supercar from Apollo to Start Drooling Over

The Titan has a V12 and all-carbon fiber chassis.

The resurrected Apollo Arrow turned heads at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, but now the revitalized Apollo company has inked a manufacturing deal to build the Arrow that includes an upgraded, all-carbon fiber, V12-powered track-only version dubbed “Titan.”

Apollo was reborn from the ashes of the Gumpert Sportwagen Manufactur GmbH, the personal project of former Audi Sport director Roland Gumpert. An infusion of Chinese cash from Ideal Team Ventures, Ltd. permitted the company to relaunch as Apollo Automobil Ltd., adopting the Gumpert Apollo’s model name as the new brand.

Now the aim to turn turn Apollo’s ambitious plans to reality, so the would-be supercar maker has turned to Italian constructor MAT to assemble its cars. In the process, MAT is applying its carbon fiber know-how to upgrade the Apollo’s chassis with an all-carbon design substituting for the Arrow’s carbon-and-steel layout for the new Titan track car.

MAT builds the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003S we highlighted recently, and will apply that car’s chassis technology to the Apollo cars.

While the Arrow employs a 986-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter Audi V8 engine, the Titan will use a naturally aspirated V12 of unspecified origin. We’ll learn more when the Titan makes its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next June.

Rather than viewing Apollo as a competitor, SCG founder Jim Glickenhaus evidently regards it as a partner. “I’m really excited to be working on this project with Apollo,” he said. “The Arrow is a thing of beauty and we can definitely bring a lot of technical know how to the table from our successful experience of competing on the toughest races in motorsport.”
