Kris Jenner Shares Personal Divorce Advice with Daughter Kim Kardashian Amid Pending Split with Kanye West: ‘The Kids Come First’

Parenting means sharing the lessons you have learned from your own lived experiences with your children to help them through the most difficult situations. Kris Jenner is doing just that, advising her daughter, Kim Kardashian, as she navigates the ins and outs of divorce and parenting after a relationship has come to an unfortunate end.

Kim filed for divorce from Kanye West in February and her mother has excellent advice for her daughter and anyone else who is a parent and experiencing a similar situation.

‘The Kids Come First’ Kris Jenner Claimed Was Her Most Valuable Piece of Advice Regarding Parents Who Are Going Through a Divorce.

Kim Kardashian filed for divorce after seven years of marriage with Kanye. She and the musician built a sizable family with four children. Kris Jenner had some advice for her daughter as she proceeds with the split. Speaking with WSJ Magazine’s The One, she urged Kim to think of those kids.

“I think the most important thing I learned through my experience, both of my experiences, is that the kids come first,” Jenner, 65, who shared four kids with her late first husband Robert Kardashian and two children with ex Caitlyn Jenner, told the outlet.

“If you keep that in the front of your mind and know that they are going to get you through, the love is going to get you through, you know, no matter how much you’re hurting,” the reality TV mogul said. “I used to put everybody to bed, and then I would be upset or go to my room and cry myself to sleep. But I didn’t want to have a pity party in front of the kids.”

She noted in her conversation with Kristina O’Neill that things can quickly get “silly” in a divorce and due to that fact it’s best to prioritize children over “unnecessary” elements that will arise.

Kim, 40, shares daughters North, 7, and Chicago, 3, and sons Saint, 5, and Psalm, who turns 2 next month. We reported recently about the newest developments of the Kardashian-West divorce after Kanye filed a request for joint custody of the pair’s children.

Kanye also asked for the court’s right to award spousal support for either person to be terminated, the filing, which was obtained by People, said.

Kim and Kanye started dating in 2012 and tied the knot on May 24, 2014. In the legal document, the rapper’s counsel lists “irreconcilable differences” as the couple’s reason for divorce, though a date of separation is not given.

Kris doesn’t only dole out advice to her daughter! The reality star told WSJ. Magazine in an interview last month that she often leans on Kim when she finds herself in a crisis of her own.

“Kim would be my girl,” Kris answered when asked who the one person she calls when the going gets rough. “She’s always all of our go-to whenever anything happens because she’s so calm and she’s the one who really thinks things through. Kim is your girl.”

Kim shared her appreciation for her mom in the same cover story. The SKIMS entrepreneur admitted that the boundaries are often unclear between mom and “momager.”

“We will scream at her for having her mom hat on when we need the manager hat on,” Kim admitted to WSJ Magazine. “I feel so bad for her. She deserves every award on the planet for just having six kids who have really full lives. And torturing her the way that we do.”

We are not surprised to see Kris and Kim continuing to be each other’s rocks during turbulent times. We have seen the strength of their bond time and time again on Keeping Up with the Kardashians for years. We imagine a mother’s love and advice is exactly what Kim needs during this difficult time in her life. Thankfully, Kris is not short on either.
