Pop a bottle! Mandy Moore and husband, Taylor Goldsmith, announced Tuesday that they had officially welcomed their first child together. The couple chose the handsome name August Harrison Goldsmith for their baby boy.
In an adorable post on Instagram, the entertainers said “Gus is here,” revealing their newborn’s nickname and name. “Our sweet boy, August Harrison Goldsmith. He was punctual and arrived right on his due date, much to the delight of his parents. We were prepared to fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined.”

The This Is Us actor has been married to musician Taylor Goldsmith since 2018. “He makes me melt,” Moore once told Glamour. “I can imagine no better partner. He’s going to be the most tremendous father. I view the past as a stepping-stone to get me where I am today. I would gladly weather all of that a million times over if it brought me to Taylor again.”
And, the excited new mom was not done sharing details about her new son. She also shared an image of the adorable baby blanket that Taylor had made.
In a follow-up post, the actor shared an image of a blanket with the name “August” in fabric letters sewn onto it. You will notice that the “A” and the “T” are different colors and Moore explained why writing, “It was last August when @taylordawesgoldsmith and I found out we were having a boy (it’s also Taylor’s birth month) and we always loved the name.”
“It was settled very early on in our book,” she continues. “Then for our anniversary in November, T gifted me with this blanket with the ‘A’ (for Amanda) made from extra material from my wedding dress and ‘T’ (for Taylor) from his wedding shirt. Felt like a very fitting amalgamation of our whole story. I can’t wait to pass this on to our sweet August one day.”
Moore and Goldsmith publicly announced the pregnancy in September of last year sharing black and white photos of the couple with the caption, “Baby Boy Goldsmith coming early 2021.”
Just before the big announcement, Moore wrote a loving Instagram post for her partner’s birthday and shared it with fans. “I’m not sure what I did in a past life to deserve you but it must have been something big,” she gushed. “You are undeniable. Your inherent light, humility, grace, humor, and compassion are contagious and I feel lucky to get the chance to bask in your goodness with outstretched arms.”

“Thank you for trusting me with your heart,” she continued. “Thank you for being the best travel companion, crossword puzzler, songwriting partner, pet parent, and my favorite person. 2020 has certainly been a wild ride but I really can’t wait for what this next year will bring. Happy Birthday, T. I love you more than anything.”
After she recently disclosed the gender of her unborn son she told Romper she plans to “raise an intelligent, feminist, loving, compassionate young man, who respects women, and who understands boundaries.”
