Baby Elephant Sees Goat, Runs For His Life

Meeting somebody new can be scary - especially if you're just a child.

In an unusual encounter, a baby elephant and a young goat reacted to seeing each other for the first time. And, as you can tell from the footage, both were quite surprised by the other.

In the video, the elephant turns a corner around a fence post and spots a small goat staring back at him. The elephant's jaw drops and he lets out what sounds like an involuntary shriek of horror. Both parties immediately retreat: the elephant to the safe embrace of his mother and the goat just a few steps away.

Why were the two afraid of each other? It's hard to say. Other than claiming the video comes from Nepal, the description doesn't include any additional context.

Perhaps they were strangers and had never seen each other's species before. Perhaps they weren't expecting to see each other and were simply startled by each other's presence. Perhaps they were in a game of hide-and-go-seek.

Whatever the situation, we can only hope that they'll eventually get used to each other - and maybe even become friends.
